 Water Tower Row
Farwell Avenue at Belleview
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Project Description: This new construction project occupies a double lot on Milwaukee's East Side, two short blocks from the 'fashionable' Downer Avenue shopping district. The building infills a narrow site and is surrounded by several three and four story multi-family residential buildings of various vintage.
The 10 units in the project are all vertical townhouse units, with two car garages on the lowest floor. Each unit has two bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths, a balcony off the living room and a fourth floor loft with deck that affords panoramic views of the east side and entire city.
The building's design strikes an urbanistic, contemporary feel that complements the neighborhood's existing architecture, with articulated cantilevered window bays and balconies overviewing the street. Garages are aligned along the sides.
Although the project needed several dimensional variances, the City's Plan Commission provided approval readily, in recognition of the project's adept design using Traditional Neighborhood Design principles.
